News about our students
We are proud of two of our talented students, Will Powell and Cruz Vang-Ly, who recently showcased their culinary flair at A Taste of the Tropics – a dynamic, hands-on cooking competition at Innisfail State College.
This event, hosted in collaboration with the Business Liaison Association (BLA), celebrates the unique and vibrant tropical produce of Far North Queensland. Participants were challenged to design, prepare and present their dishes in a professional kitchen, reflecting creativity and technical skill.
Will and Cruz impressed the judges with their culinary creations, earning awards for their outstanding efforts. Their success will be officially recognised at the prestigious Aspire Awards in November.
Congratulations to both students on this remarkable achievement!
Queensland Representative Hockey 10-12 Years

Queensland Representative Rugby Union 17-18 Years
Harvey Kachel competed at the U18 Rugby Union Schoolboys State Championships in Townsville in May, where he captained the Peninsula U18 team. His strong performances earned him selection in the Queensland White U18 Rugby Union Team for the second consecutive year, going on to compete at the Australian Schools Rugby Union National Championships on the Sunshine Coast during the July school holidays. Recognised for his leadership, he was named captain of the Queensland White team and was awarded the Sugerman-McLean Award for best team player at the closing ceremony. Well done, Harvey!
