Year 3

Term 3

It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through Term 3! Let's have a look at what we have been up to in Year 3.

Book Week!

It was wonderful to share our classroom with family and friends last Friday! After our parade, students took part in a classroom challenge to build the Eiffel Tower using only Blu Tack and skewers. This activity was inspired by Tiwi in Paris, one of this year's shortlisted books. Everyone showed great creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills as they tackled the challenge.

SpellEx

Over the next few weeks, students will be focusing on contractions and apostrophes. These are words such as can't, won't, don't, haven't, I've, what's and they're. As always, we will also continue practising our tricky words to build confidence and spelling accuracy.

Literacy

Students enjoyed studying The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, developing their comprehension, vocabulary and discussion skills through a range of reading and language activities. As a culminating task, students researched and created an engaging information report about Iron, using facts, descriptive language and appropriate text features to present their learning.

Mathematics

Angles, time and now 3D shapes and objects. Maths has certainly kept us busy this term! Check out some of our work and the types of questions we have been investigating and solving in class.

Religious Education - Known, Loved and Called Choosing the Way of Jesus.

Students recently completed a unit exploring their identity as people created, known and loved by God. Through Scripture and the teachings of Jesus, they reflected on how Christians are called to make loving and thoughtful choices, show compassion and respect for others, and build positive relationships in their everyday lives.

Show and Tell

Emma bought in some little rabbits to share with our class before they headed off to their new homes! We had some very excited Year 3.
