Visual Art

As we motor towards the end of the semester, all classes are continuing to work hard in the creation of their artworks.
A highlight has been the Grade 6 students working in teams to design and develop some large scale flowers, grasses and leaves which will combine to make a vibrant display at our upcoming Art Show. They have used recycled cardboard as the main material and have been really enthusiastic about seeing success in this piece.
Just this week, our junior students have begun exploring the idea of layered artworks - building up a page with layers of colour, texture and shapes. They have been encouraged to really 'think like an artist' by making considered choices about their work.
Meanwhile, the Art Captains have been working behind the scenes to prepare for the launch of the Art Show and have chosen the theme 'Wild at Art'. Stay tuned for details about an art competition to design posters to advertise this event.
If you think you might have some time next term to help with jobs to prepare artworks for this event (eg. framing/labelling) I would love to hear from you. This work could potentially be done in your homes with all materials supplied. I can be contacted via Compass email.
