Over the past few weeks, our Prep superstars have continued to grow their Indonesian language skills, especially in learning colours and numbers. Some students can now count all the way to enam (six) or even tujuh (seven)—what a fantastic achievement!

Most students can confidently and beautifully sing the Bibitsku Warna (Colours) song. To reinforce their understanding of colours, they enjoyed playing Colour Salad on the basketball court, which was both exciting and educational. What a wonderful milestone!

We also continued building our Indonesian vocabulary by completing alphabet-based colouring activities. Well done, anak-anak (children)—bagus sekali!

One of the biggest highlights of the past few weeks has been our students’ incredible progress in counting in Indonesian. Our learners have achieved the following counting milestones:

  • Grade 1: 0–10
  • Grade 2: 0–20
  • Grade 3: 0–30
  • Grade 4: 0–40
  • Grade 5: 0–50
  • Grade 6: 0–60

Our GRPS Indonesian learners have not only demonstrated outstanding counting skills in another language but have also embraced an exciting challenge—writing as many Indonesian numbers as possible within five minutes. Their enthusiasm, determination, and perseverance were truly remarkable. Anda hebat (you're powerful)!

This achievement reflects their growing confidence and commitment to learning Indonesian. What an impressive accomplishment—well done, everyone!

From a cultural learning perspective, students continued to develop their skills and strategies as they worked towards becoming the next Congklak Champion. While not every student finished with the most shells in their “house,” they depicted something even more valuable—patience, kindness, resilience, and good sportsmanship throughout each game.

It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, persevering through challenges, and embracing the learning process. Their positive attitudes and determination made every game a success. Every student should be proud of their efforts and achievements—they all deserve a well-earned pat on the back!

It’s that exciting time of the year again—the Indonesian Speaking Competition!

This year, the competition will feature a new format. Only the top two students from each year level will have the honour of representing GRPS. In addition, students’ speaking performances will be recorded and submitted online by Bu Sia as part of the competition process.

Our dedicated participants have been practising tirelessly, putting in countless hours to refine their pronunciation, confidence, and presentation skills. Their commitment and determination to do their very best have been truly inspiring.

We are incredibly proud of all our representatives and wish them every success as they showcase their Indonesian language skills. All the best, GRPS warriors!
