PE NEWS

It has been a busy and exciting term in PE, with plenty of opportunities for students to get involved, challenge themselves, and represent our school with pride.

Girls AFL Gala Day

We kicked off the term with the Year 5 & 6 Girls Maroondah Division AFL Gala Day. We had two teams compete, with 20 girls participating across the day.

Both teams enjoyed some great success, winning games and showing fantastic improvement in their skills, confidence, and teamwork as the day went on. Most importantly, the girls had lots of fun and displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the competition.

A big congratulations to all the girls on their efforts and the way they represented our school!

District Cross Country

Congratulations to all of our students who competed at District Cross Country last week. The rainy weather certainly made for challenging conditions, but everyone showed determination, resilience, and a positive attitude.

You should all be incredibly proud of your efforts. Well done!

Year 4 Gala Sessions with Aquinas College

Our Year 4 students have been lucky enough to take part in some exciting sports sessions run by Sport and Recreation students from Aquinas College.

Students have been developing their skills in soccer, netball, and basketball while having fun and learning from the older students. We are thrilled to be working alongside Aquinas College and thank them for providing these wonderful opportunities for our students.

Calisthenics Superstar

Congratulations to Kayley (Prep D), who recently achieved an amazing result, placing 3rd at the State Championships in the Champion Level division for 5–6-year-olds.

Calisthenics is an artistic sport that combines elements of dance, ballet, and gymnastics. Kayley performed a solo routine to Boogie Shoes, which she spent four months learning, practising, and perfecting before the competition.

Kayley is now busy preparing for her group competition season, which begins in August. We wish her all the best and look forward to hearing about her future achievements!

Zoe Competes in the Stawell Gift

A huge congratulations to Zoe Neale (ES Staff), who competed in the Women's 120m event at the Stawell Gift over Easter.

Zoe progressed through to the semi-finals and had the incredible opportunity to race against world champion sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson. What an amazing achievement and experience! Well done, Zoe!

What's Coming Up?

There is still plenty happening this term, including:

• Year 5 & 6 Winter Interschool Gala Day – Friday 19 June

• Year 3–6 House Athletics – Wednesday 24 June

We can't wait to see our students continue to get involved, try their best, and enjoy these exciting sporting opportunities.
