Highlighting 7Q

7Q has gone through a few changes since the start of the year, including welcoming some new students to our class.  Our class can be pretty energetic at times, but students are embracing secondary school and all it brings.

ENGLISH

For Term 3, 7Q spent a few weeks exploring and experimenting with a range of poetic forms. During this time students wrote an impressive series of poems. The sophistication and depth of their work was quite astonishing. Well done 7Q!!

We have since moved onto a film study. Students have watched the film Paper Planes and are now closely examining the themes and conflicts which drive the storyline. The assessment will be an analytical essay response to a question. Shortly, we will begin to practice essay writing.

HUMANITIES

In Humanities 7Q is currently working to understand how China’s unique landscape influenced the history and development of their culture.

China’s unique culture developed over a very long period of time. This can be accredited to the geographic features of China. The rivers that flow through China dictated where people lived and how they survived (much like the Nile), and the features which surround China allowed them to develop isolated from the rest of the world.

SCIENCE

Currently, we have started an assessment task in Mixtures. They are planning and designing their own filters and will then have to test them in weeks 6 and 7 of the term.

PE/HEALTH

This term in Physical Education, 7Q students have been actively engaged in a range of invasion games, including Ultimate Frisbee, Handball, and Tchoukball. These games have helped students develop teamwork, communication, spatial awareness, and strategic thinking, while also improving their fundamental movement skills and overall fitness.

In Health, our focus has been on understanding the changes that occur during puberty. Students have explored the physical, emotional, and social changes experienced during adolescence, and discussed strategies to maintain positive health and wellbeing during this important stage of life.

Well done, 7Q, on your enthusiasm and participation shown. We look forward to building on these skills throughout the rest of the year!
