State Senior Hockey – Footscray Hockey Complex
Given it was their second year in a row competing in the 'Big Smoke', this very competitive team were laser focused last Friday 22nd August. Playing 3 qualifying games against Kew HS, Mordialloc College and Maribyrnong College, they started with a sound win of 3-2.
Our wings were quickly clipped in the 2nd game going down to Mordialloc 1-3 - they would eventually go on to win the State final. The 3rd game gave our team a chance to regroup and focus on redemption. They played with confidence and smarts to notch up another win 1-0, placing 2nd in the section A. Congratulations Senior Hockey Team and Staff on such a strong performance, our school stands a little taller with your efforts.
Interschools Victorian Ski and Snowboard Championships – Mt Buller
Year 8 student, Fletcher, represented BSC in both Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross divisions last week. He did a great job at the Interschools competition, giving it his all against the state’s best. It was good and bad weather throughout the event, adding to the complexity of competing in the high country. Well done Fletcher (and Mum), for dedicating yourself to represent the school at such a prestigious event.
Gippstar Award
We celebrate Jack receiving the Gippstar Award recently. Jack has had a very successful year winning the 20-gauge National Skeet Championships in Perth. We wish him continued success in his chosen sport.
Youth Girls Football – Bairnsdale Premiers
Last Sunday 24th August several BSC students played in the Grand Final at the Traralgon Football Ground. After a slow start to the season, the team started putting together some solid performances working their way into the Grand Final. Congratulations Evelyn, Jazzi, Lara, Jess, Bonnie, Abbey, Rahni, Paige, Ella and Jazmin on winning the big one.
Squad Netball – Gippsland Stars U-17 and U-19
Recently Olivia, Heidi, Ava and Rose were part of the winning teams at the Waverly Netball Centre for the State Super Netball Series. What a fantastic reward for all the hard work you have been putting in over the years.
With plenty of students involved in their local Football and Netball Clubs throughout the winter, we would like to wish those who have qualified for finals all the very best and enjoy the experience.
