EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Middle School Ethics Olympiad 2026

Do you enjoy discussing big questions? Are you curious about issues with no easy answers? Would you like to explore real world ethical dilemmas with other thoughtful students?

In 2026 our Middle School will enter the Middle School Ethics Olympiad, an exciting international competition where students from Australia and around the world work together to discuss challenging ethical issues. Unlike a debate, the focus is not on winning, but on the quality of your reasoning, your willingness to listen, and your ability to engage respectfully with different perspectives. It is a fun and rewarding way to develop skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration and ethical reasoning.

Students will be coached by a teacher, together with members of our Senior School Ethics Olympiad team, who received a Special Mention for their outstanding performance this year in the Senior School Ethics Olympiad.

Everyone is welcome. While a team will later be selected to compete on 5 November, we hope many students will join our Ethics Club to meet regularly, discuss fascinating ethical questions and sharpen their thinking.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

If you are planning on nominating yourself for School Council at the start of next school year please note the following:

From 2026, parents/carers and community members who would like to join the school council need a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance to nominate.
If you are considering nominating for school council, and don’t already have a WWCC, we encourage you to apply for a volunteer WWCC as soon as possible. This will allow for processing times, which are estimated to be from 3 to 12 weeks.
When applying for your volunteer WWCC, please nominate the Department of Education as the organisation you are working for.
If you already hold an employee WWCC, you do not need to obtain a volunteer WWCC to nominate for school council.

Please note, that if you do not hold a WWCC, you will not be able to nominate for school council, so it is vital that you prepare in advance. Obtaining a WWCC is free for volunteers, and you can apply online at Service Victoria.
