JUNIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Years 7 and 8 Parents/Carers and Students

As Term 3 comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 7 and 8 students on another busy and rewarding term.

It has been wonderful to see our Junior School students continue to learn, grow, connect and contribute to our school community in so many different ways. Throughout the term, students have embraced a wide range of learning, leadership, arts, sporting and wellbeing opportunities, both within our school and beyond.

We were proud to host the Koorie Emerging Leaders in Schools (KELiS) event, welcoming students and staff from schools across our network and providing an opportunity to develop leadership, build connections and celebrate culture and community. Our Cyber Safety Project sessions also supported students to develop their understanding of staying safe and responsible online.

Students have also enjoyed a range of arts and sporting opportunities, including our Music Winter Concert, Year 8 Frankston Tech School excursions, Junior School sport and the Aerobics National Championships. We have also come together as a school community to recognise Wear It Purple Day and R U OK? Day, highlighting the importance of inclusion, connection, and looking out for one another. These days reinforced our commitment to creating a school community where every student feels safe, valued, respected, and included.

It has been fantastic to see our students embrace these opportunities and contribute so positively to Junior School life throughout the term.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our Junior School teachers for their hard work, care, and commitment throughout Term 3. Our teachers play an important role in supporting students not only in their learning, but also in their wellbeing, confidence, and personal development. The time, energy and care they invest in our students each day is greatly appreciated.

I would also like to acknowledge our Junior School Leaders for their leadership and ongoing support of our students. Thank you to the Junior School team for the care and leadership they provide to our students and families. Their work helps ensure our students feel supported, connected, and able to engage positively in school life.

Term 3 Pillar Awards

Maintaining regular attendance requires commitment and consistency, and we were pleased to celebrate these students with a Junior School pizza lunch.

Our Expectations – Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Schools

As we look towards Term 4, it is important that we continue to hold high expectations for ourselves and for one another.

At Frankston High School, we are committed to providing a school environment where every student and every staff member feels safe, respected, included, and valued. Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy provide an important foundation for the way we behave, communicate and interact with others.

We expect students to:

Respect themselves, others and our shared environment by acting safely, kindly, and fairly.
Take Responsibility for their choices, behaviour and learning, and understand that our actions have an impact on others.
Demonstrate Resilience by embracing challenges, learning from mistakes, and persevering when things are difficult.
Show Empathy by considering the experiences and feelings of others and ensuring that everyone feels included and supported.

These expectations apply in classrooms, during breaks, on excursions and camps, in sporting activities, online and in every other aspect of school life.

There is no place in our school community for bullying, discrimination, racism or homophobic behaviour. We expect every member of our community to contribute to an environment where people are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or differences.

Creating a safe and inclusive school is a shared responsibility. We will continue to explicitly teach, reinforce and support these expectations, while responding appropriately when behaviours do not meet the standards we set for our community.

As we head into the final term of the school year, I encourage all of our Year 7 and 8 students to continue to make the most of every opportunity, challenge themselves, support one another and demonstrate our values in everything they do.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued support throughout Term 3. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break and returns to school refreshed and ready for a positive and successful Term 4.
