Leadership Report
Written by Amanda Palombi on behalf of the leadership team
Dear Saltwater families, welcome to Week 4 of Term 2.
Pedestrian Safety Around Our School
Student and family safety before and after school is a priority for our community. Recently, concerns have been raised about the pedestrian crossing on Saltwater Promenade near the school, particularly the crossing that is not currently staffed.
Some members of our community have observed vehicles continuing to drive through the crossing while the pedestrian signal is showing the green walk signal. This is concerning, as families and students rely on these signals to cross safely.
The school leadership team has raised this matter with Wyndham City Council and our local Member for Point Cook, Mathew Hilakari, to request that the safety of this crossing be reviewed.
In the meantime, we ask all families to take extra care when crossing roads near the school. Please remind children to always stop, look carefully, and cross with an adult where possible.
We also encourage all drivers in our community to slow down in school zones and remain alert for pedestrians during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Annual Report to Community
At our upcoming School Council meeting, the school will present the Annual Report to the School Community for Council endorsement. Once endorsed, the report will be published on our website for families to access.
The Annual Report provides our community with a clear overview of the school’s performance over the past year. It includes key information about student learning, wellbeing and engagement, as well as our progress towards the goals outlined in the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.
The report also outlines how school resources are used to support student outcomes and highlights both our achievements and areas for continued growth. This process ensures we remain transparent to our school community while celebrating the work taking place across the school.
Education Week 18 May - 22 May
During the week beginning 18 May, our school will be celebrating Education Week, an annual event that recognises and celebrates the achievements of students, teachers and school communities across the state.
Throughout the week, we will be hosting a number of Open Morning and Afternoon sessions, where parents and carers are warmly invited to visit classrooms and see learning in action. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience the vibrant learning environment at our school, observe classroom activities and celebrate the great work our students and staff are doing.
Specific times for classroom visits will be shared with families, and we encourage parents to take the opportunity to drop in and see the fantastic learning taking place across the school. We look forward to welcoming our community into our classrooms during this special week.
Prep 2027 Enrolment Tours
We are pleased to share that our Prep 2027 enrolment tours have now commenced. These tours provide prospective families with the opportunity to visit our school, see learning in action and learn more about the programs and opportunities available at our school.
Tours are being held every Friday throughout May for families considering enrolment for Prep 2027.
For further information about tour dates, enrolment processes and important timelines, please refer to the “Future Prep Enrolments” section in the newsletter.
