Staff Spotlight

Ms Alison Moore - Head of Year 8
Get to know the vibrant Alison Moore - dog lover, exercise enthusiast and all-round fabulous human.
Welcome Alison, thanks for agreeing to be our first Staff Spotlight talent. We are keen to get to know you, so let's chat...
1. What school did you go to?
I went to Millfield High School in Blackpool, England until I was 16, and then attended Blackpool Sixth Form to complete my A-levels.
2. What was your favourite subject at school?
PE
3. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Either a teacher or a police dog handler.
4. If you weren’t a Teacher/Head of Year, what would you choose to be?
At school, I’d definitely be the grounds person. Mowing lawns and whipper snipping looks very peaceful compared to chasing Year 8s around!
Not school related, I’d love to be a dog walker or a stay at-home dog mum.
5. What is a current school trend that has you absolutely baffled?
I’m not cool enough to know what the current trends are, but I’m constantly baffled by the made-up words students use. Half the time I’m not sure if they’re speaking English or a completely different language!
6. What would students be surprised to find out about you?
I love paint-by-numbers and ice baths.
Oh, and I’m actually not scary at all, ask anyone in Year 11!
7. What are your must-have smartphone apps?
Apple Podcasts, Maps, and Camera.
8. If you could make up a new national holiday that everyone must celebrate, what would it be?
National Dog Day (it may exist already?!). Even better, it would be mandatory on this day that everyone brings their dogs to work. Admin… if you’re reading this, please consider it.
9. What is your dream vacation?
Travelling around Europe at Christmas with a ski trip included. Snow, Christmas markets, good food.
10. What are three things you can’t live without?
My dogs, chocolate, and exercise. Oh, and I better mention my wife because she will definitely see this!
Thanks Alison, we appreciate you and all you do for our school.
