I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the strong efforts of our school community over the past few weeks.
We are now very close to finishing our NAPLAN testing for 2026. While the process presented some challenges, particularly with connectivity issues, I was very impressed by the resilience and adaptability shown by both our students and staff. When faced with obstacles, our community demonstrated a calm and flexible approach, ensuring that learning and assessment continued with minimal disruption. Final catch-up sessions will be occurring for students who were away on the day. Well done to all our Year 7 and 9 students.
Week 8 naturally becomes a time for students to be completing their assessment tasks. I encourage parents and carers to have regular conversations with their children about upcoming assessment and due dates to help keep them on track for success. Supporting students to establish effective study habits at home can make a significant difference. This might include creating a consistent, quiet space for study, setting a regular homework routine, and encouraging students to break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps. Checking in on progress and encouraging students to start early rather than leaving tasks to the last minute are also key ways to support learning.
As we approach the end of Term 1, I would like to thank everyone for their continued positive behaviour and the way in which students support one another. Over the past few weeks, I have witnessed many outstanding examples of our school values in action. This has included students supporting peers who were unsure during assessment tasks, as well as students demonstrating respect and responsibility by staying focused in class and assisting teachers without being asked. These everyday actions contribute strongly to the positive culture of our school and are something we can all be proud of.
As we move into the cooler months, I would also like to remind families about our school uniform expectations. We appreciate parent and carer support in ensuring students are attending school in full and correct uniform each day. This includes wearing the school jumper as the weather becomes cooler. If families require any support with uniforms, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s Head of Year, who will be able to assist.
We are also looking forward to our upcoming Year 7 camp. This is always a highlight of the year and provides a wonderful opportunity for students to build new friendships, strengthen connections, and develop independence in a supportive environment.
With the Easter break just around the corner, I hope all students, families, and staff enjoy a well-earned rest after what has been a busy and successful term.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
