Middle School Social

Midnight Hour themed night to remember!

Year 9 and 10 students recently experienced a little taste of what nightlife has to offer with the Midnight Hour themed School Social. The colours of Blue, Purple, Silver and Gold provided a dazzling backdrop to a festive evening of fun and dancing. The headline act, fast becoming a fixture on the school music scene, Jiminey’s Cricket’s kicked off the night, with an innovative take on Rock n Roll classics plus their own originals. The Jiminey’s had the crowd jumping and set the tone for the evening. Lead by Max Riley and Paddy Byrne, with Charlie Wheatley and Belle O’Brien providing the heavy bass line and beat, The Jiminey’s are surely headed for greater heights and larger stages. Do yourself a favour and catch them when you can.

Next up came the DJ set, with guest DJ Ming the Merciless conjuring the crowd. With a musical journey that traversed between Queen and Travis Scott our students screamed, jumped and danced their way through the night. With our newly reclaimed Assembly Hall blacked out and but lit up for effect, students were swept up in disco fever. After working up a sweat on the dancefloor, the students enjoyed large selection of refreshments  when they took time for air. It really was a night for the ages.

On an organisational level, parents and staff could not be more impressed with the ability of our Year 9 and 10 students to organise, staff, and help with the shaping of this event. Teachers also worked tirelessly, but the hugest ‘thank you’ really does need to go to those Year 9’s and 10’s, in the Organising Committee, who conspired to make this dream a reality. The good-natured spirit of the evening ensured that teacher facilitators, Jerome Holleman and Simon Hoo are looking forward to this night becoming a fixture on the Middle School’s calendar.
