Engineering Excellence: Students Ace MIGAS Challenges

Career Visions: MIGAS Shows VET Class the Apprentice Life.

Last term, the Wyndham College Manufacturing and Engineering VET class (Year 11 and 12) were fortunate to receive a visit from Kevin Howard, from MIGAS, a Group Training Organisation (GTO) that employs apprentices and trainees.

Kevin engaged the students in a discussion about career opportunities, pathways, employer expectations, and the skills needed in the industry. This gave the students the opportunity to talk about what career they were interested in. The students impressed with their performance in brain teasers, mini skill challenges, and the Virtual Reality goggles demonstration, which offered a glimpse into the daily life of an apprentice.

Kevin is scheduled to return and continue his visits with the students throughout term of the course.

Year 12 Hospitality Food & Beverage students have been studying a unit of work on Non-alcoholic beverages as part of their Certificate II in Hospitality.  This unit of work enables students to develop the skills and knowledge required to work in the Hospitality industry.

Students have been preparing mocktails, teas, milkshakes, frappes as well as other assorted drinks related to the unit. These are some of the students creations.
