Mindful May

This May, our library will be a calm and creative space during recess, with a range of mindful craft activities designed to help students slow down, de-stress, and reconnect.

From colouring and origami to simple hands-on crafts, these activities give students the chance to take a break from the busyness of the school day, practise mindfulness, and enjoy some quiet time with friends.

Mindful May is all about supporting wellbeing, encouraging students to pause, be present, and build positive connections in a welcoming environment.

Students will be given "Wyndham Positives" for participation.

Our first two days of Mindful May in the library have been filled with creativity, connection, and positivity. Students have been busy creating their own joyful mini books capturing things that make them smile and feel grateful. We’ve also seen some beautiful reflections through our “Hands of Hope” activity, where students explored both their past strengths and future aspirations.

Our students got their hands a little dirty in the best way possible during Mindful May on Wednesday. At recess, students enjoyed planting their own succulents, taking time to slow down, connect with nature, and focus on the present moment. It was great to see so many smiling faces as they created something to take care of and watch grow.

These simple, hands-on activities are a great way to reduce stress, build mindfulness, and create a sense of calm during a busy school day. Join us again tomorrow at recess in the library for more fun, creativity, and mindful moments—we’d love to see you there!
