Leadership Report

Written by Mark McInerney on behalf of the leadership team

Dear Saltwater Families,

We’ve made it through Term Three, and what a wonderful effort it has been from our students, staff, and families.

With spring now upon us, the blossoms are out and the sunshine is bringing a renewed sense of warmth, ready for Term Four.

Enrolment & Planning for 2027

Saltwater P–9 College is currently laying the groundwork for the 2027 school year. Our leadership team is actively designing next year's classroom layouts, organising student resources, and managing our workforce recruitment.

If your family is moving out of the area or your child is changing schools next year, we kindly request that you inform the school office. Having confirmed numbers allows us to secure the best possible resources and staffing configurations for our cohorts. Please log your exit notification by speaking to our office staff on 8366 7700.

We are also finalising intake numbers for the 2027 Prep cohort. We kindly urge current families who have younger children starting school next year to submit their enrolment forms. Thank you for your vital cooperation in helping us plan efficiently for our community's future.

☀️ Term 4 Reminder: "No Hat, No Play"

As we approach Term 4, "No Hat, No Play" will be in full effect across all year levels.

Any student without an approved school hat during recess, lunch, or outdoor lessons will be restricted to the shaded areas.

  • Approved Style: Hats must be college wide-brimmed or bucket hat designs that cover the face, ears, and neck.

  • Where to Buy: Official hats can be purchased online or in-store from our uniform provider, Noone.

Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly labeled with their full name. Thank you for helping keep our students sun-safe.

🌭 Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Thank You!

A huge thank you to our incredible school community for outstandingly supporting our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Hoppers Crossing on Sunday, 13 September.

It was a fantastic fundraising day for our college, and it was wonderful to see so many of our Saltwater families and friends drop by to purchase a sausage or drink.

All money raised from the event is going toward purchasing new books and high-quality learning resources for our brand-new school library. We are immensely grateful to our wonderful community for getting behind this initiative, and a special thank you goes out to our secondary student leaders, staff, and parent volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the BBQ running smoothly.

Friendship List

During the first few weeks of Term 4, all students will be asked to nominate friendship groups (Primary) or peers they work well with (Secondary). This information will help guide the process of allocating students to 2027 classes.

To support this process, you may wish to talk with your child/ren about potential friendship choices. We will make every effort to place each student in a 2027 class with at least one of their nominated peers.

During Term 4, teachers will work collaboratively to allocate students to 2027 classes. If you have any educational considerations for your child’s placement, please email these requests to the school by Monday 26 October 2025. Please note that requests for specific teachers cannot be accommodated.

While we make every effort to place each student with at least one of their nominated peers, we can’t guarantee that it will always be the top friend they have listed. This is because class formation involves many complex factors, (student numbers, gender balance, academic needs, behaviours, and additional supports). In a school of over 2,000 students, it isn’t possible to accommodate every individual preference while still ensuring that each class is balanced and supportive for all students. Thank you for your understanding.

New Building Tours in Term 4

We are excited to announce that our two new buildings are now completed and looking fantastic! While the buildings are still awaiting their formal handover, we are looking forward to welcoming families into these new spaces once this process is complete.

In Term 4, Saltwater P–9 College will host a series of Parent Information Sessions and guided tours to showcase our new state-of-the-art learning hubs and share our plans for the upcoming school year.

Dedicated sessions will be scheduled for our Prep, Years 1–6, Years 7–8 and Year 9 parent communities, providing families with an opportunity to explore the new facilities and learn more about the learning environments.

Specific dates, session times and booking information for each cohort will be shared with families via XUNO next term. We can’t wait to open the doors and share these exciting new spaces with our Saltwater community!

Whole School Clean Up Day🌍

To mark World Clean Up Day, our Primary sector came together on the final day of Term 3, to participate in our Whole School Clean Up Day. Each class spent time tidying our school grounds and shared outdoor spaces.

We want to extend a warm thank you to all of our students and staff for their hard work in keeping our campus tidy. We are very proud that this entire initiative was led by our inspiring Year 3 students as a direct result of their recent Unit of Inquiry into caring for the environment. It was a wonderful example of our young learners taking meaningful, real-world action to support our community.
