John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families
Our final two weeks of the rowing season are upon us, with the Year 7s honing their skills on the water.
Year 7 Learn to Row
Year 7s are beginning to see their own progress, getting further out into the river if the conditions allow. We have the luxury of seven training single sculls in the shed for the Learn to Row program, which provides additional stability for the students. These boats allow rowers to practise their skills with the relative peace of mind that comes from not almost falling in every stroke. We’ve had some rowers row 3km in one of their sessions when the conditions were calm!
Bringing a towel to the session isn’t a bad idea, however, as the rowers get more confident, they are going further and faster, which sometimes results in a swim.
Please note the students catch the bus at the bus bays at the front of school and will be dropped back there at 6pm on their return. Rowers can be picked up at 5:30pm from the boatshed, but please let Claire know if this is occurring.
Please email Claire.woolfitt@johnxxiii.edu.au for more information.
The sessions remaining are:
- Monday 14 September
- Tuesday 15 September
- Wednesday 16 September
- Monday 21 September
- Tuesday 22 September
Asthma and Allergies
All rowers with asthma or allergies, please remember to bring your asthma puffers, EpiPens, or required medication to all sessions.
