Dear Families 

What a fantastic day we enjoyed at the Years 3–6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival! With perfect weather conditions and a full schedule of events, students embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship.

Throughout the day, we saw some wonderful individual achievements and impressive team performances. Athletics Carnivals provide students with opportunities to develop not only their physical skills, but also important qualities such as resilience, perseverance, teamwork, and self-confidence. Participation in sport and physical activity supports students' wellbeing, encourages healthy lifestyles, and teaches them the value of striving for personal improvement. 

We congratulate all students on their participation and the spirit with which they embraced every challenge, making the day a wonderful celebration of House spirit, sportsmanship, and personal achievement.

Thank you to the many family members who joined us and cheered on our students with such enthusiasm. We appreciate the parents who generously volunteered their time to assist at the finish line.

Well done to Campion, recipients of the House Spirit Award, in recognition of their outstanding enthusiasm, encouragement, and support throughout the carnival.

2027 Class Placements

Each new school year brings the excitement and change of classes, teachers and classmates.  It is normal for children to have some apprehension about this.  It is also inevitable that changes to friendship groups occur as children move through the grades.  Meeting new and different people is a part of life and it is our role as parents and educators to support children through change rather than protect them from it.

I ask all parents to trust that the class your child is going into next year is one in which they will thrive.  It is important to note that parental requests can only be met in exceptional circumstances and requesting a particular teacher or placement with a best friend does not constitute an exceptional circumstance.

If there is an exceptional circumstance that the College needs to be aware of, this needs to be sent directly to antoinette.depinto@johnxxiii.edu.au by Friday 25 September (last day of Term 3).  No late requests will be considered.

While written parent requests to the Head of Primary for a child to be in a particular class are considered, parents need to understand that this request may not always result in the desired outcome.

It is important to note that for class placement considerations, requests from previous years are not automatically rolled over to 2027. 

Early notification of class lists will not be provided.  Parents can feel confident that their children will always be in good hands and receive an excellent education at John XXIII College.

Fathers' Day Fun

Last Friday, our Pre-Primary students enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with their dads and special father figures. 

The afternoon was filled with fun activities and quality time together, including beard shaving, hair styling, construction, playdough, drawing, and painting. It was wonderful to see our students proudly sharing their classroom and enjoying these special moments with their loved ones.

Thinking ahead to 2027?

As we begin planning for the year ahead, we understand that family circumstances can change, and sometimes this means a move to a new school.

If you believe your child may not be returning to John XXIII College in 2027, we would appreciate hearing from you as early as possible. This helps us to ensure a smooth transition for your family and allows us to offer places to other students on our waiting list.

In line with our College’s Withdrawal Policy, we kindly ask for written notice to the College Registrar at least one term (ten school weeks) before the anticipated departure date.

Where notice is not received, the policy provides for one term’s fees in lieu of notice.

Parent Sundowner

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a connected and welcoming school community, the John XXIII College Parents’ Association warmly invites all parents to join us for our Parent Sundowner — an informal, adults only evening on the College grounds, complete with live entertainment.

This relaxed, picnic style gathering is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow parents, catch up with old friends, and celebrate the spirit of our College community.
