Year 9 Market Day

On Monday, 31 August, our Year 9 students ran their Nine-finity Market Day. Across Period 4 and lunchtime, students ran their market stalls for parents, staff and fellow students, with great success.

The day was the culmination of a term of hard work. Students tested the viability of their products through market research, budgeted for their stalls, organised orders using the funds raised through their Term 1 fundraising activities, marketed their businesses and finally prepared and ran their stalls on the day.

The following stalls ran on Market Day:

  • Slime Squad – Chloe, Holly, Pipi, Sophie and Chisato
  • Sweet Delights – Emily M, Emily P, Zoe and Grace
  • Crochet Keyrings – Eve, Yindi, Alice and Jemima
  • Triple T Bakery and Slime – Charli, Yusra, Milly and Verity
  • Brownie Bliss – Jess, Selinca, Cate, Kara and Alice
  • Ice Cream and Chocolate Strawberries – Carly, Marley, Charlotte, Allie, Addi and Ruby
  • Mario and Friends – Finn, Kamil, Anwar, Eddie, Mitchell and Ilyas
  • Sweet Treat Bakery – Daphne and Sasha
  • Bake Me Happy – Anthony, Noah, Eleni and Sarah B
  • Bites and Bits – Indy, Eliza, Char and Zoey
  • Sundae Funday – Olivia, Maryama and Merly
  • Hot Drinks (coffee, hot chocolate and henna) – Hannah, Baran, Ella, Ai Maris, Manahel and Sarah A
  • Arcade Games – Matteo, Sam, Joe, Surath and Isaac
  • Nuggets and Potato Gems – Liam, Ollie, Quentin, Flynn and Jed

The event was a fantastic success, with students raising over $1,700 across Terms 1 and 2. The students will now decide how these funds will be divided between a day trip at the end of Term 4, charity and/or being reinvested into Macleod College.

Importantly, the Market was also a rewarding opportunity for students to experience the process of running a small business. They developed valuable skills in teamwork, budgeting, marketing, organisation and customer service, while also gaining a well-deserved sense of pride in seeing their hard work come to fruition.

Thank you to our school community for your wonderful support of the event, and congratulations to our Year 9 students on an outstanding effort!
