Principal's Report

It has been a very positive first few weeks for me as Acting Principal of Macleod College. I have really enjoyed getting to know our students, staff and families and developing a deeper understanding of our College community.

One of my priorities when commencing at Macleod was to spend time listening, learning and seeing the College in action. I have appreciated the many conversations I have had with students and staff, as well as the opportunity to visit classrooms, attend events and see firsthand the breadth of learning opportunities available across our P–12 setting.

There has certainly been plenty happening across the College. Congratulations to our Year 4, 5 and 6 girls who recently won the district interschool soccer playoff final – a fantastic achievement and a great reflection of the way our students represent Macleod.

Our Year 9 Market Day was another highlight, providing students with an opportunity to put their learning into practice through creativity, teamwork and enterprise. Our Year 10 students have also participated in the LoveBites program, supporting important learning around respectful relationships and positive decision-making.

Across the College, our staff continue to focus strongly on teaching and learning. Recent professional learning has included analysing our NAPLAN data and considering what this tells us about student learning and our next steps. Our leadership team has also begun looking closely at our Attitudes to School Survey data across Primary, Years 7–9 and Years 10–12. Listening to student voice and using evidence to inform our improvement work will continue to be an important focus.

Of course, one of the major highlights at Macleod this week is our College musical Legally Blonde. A school production of this scale takes an enormous amount of work behind the scenes, and I would like to acknowledge the students and staff who have invested so much time and energy in bringing it together. I am looking forward to seeing our students perform and encourage our community to get behind this fantastic event.

As I continue to settle into the College, I have been impressed by the commitment of our staff and the many opportunities available to our students. Macleod is a diverse P–12 community, and one of the great strengths of the College is the opportunity to support young people across their entire school journey.

For the remainder of the year, my focus will be on continuing to support strong teaching and learning, maintaining high expectations for student engagement and behaviour, and working with our staff and community as we continue planning for 2027.

Thank you to everyone who has introduced themselves, stopped for a conversation or made me feel welcome during my first few weeks. I look forward to continuing to meet more of our families and working alongside the Macleod College community over the months ahead.
