YEAR 8 GIRLS BASKETBALL – SMR FINALS

On Wednesday 30 October, eight very excited Year 8 students travelled to Dandenong stadium to participate in the Girls Basketball SMR finals.

Our first game against Keysborough College saw the girls take home a 20+ point victory. Following on to our next game against Mentone Girls Secondary saw the girls take home another 40+ point victory. Game number three and our final one in the pools, saw us take on Lyndhurst Secondary that resulted in a 60-point victory. The girls were in the finals!

The game was up against Berwick and the girls were having deja vu, having played Berwick in 2023 and on the same court. The girls started strong, they put in an extremely gallant effort, they pushed Berwick to the limit, saw the game go down to the last 36 seconds but unfortunately, they fell short at 24-26.

They should be commended on their efforts and should be proud of themselves, I know as their coaches, Abby and I are extremely proud of their performance, determination and their grit in how they handled themselves on the day.

They definitely made Mckinnon proud!!

Well get 'em next year girls!

YEAR 7 & 8 SUPER 8s CRICKET SMR FINALS

The Year 7 & 8 Girls Super 8s Cricket teams progressed to the SMR Finals, held at Aspendale Gardens on Friday 8 November.

Despite some challenging weather conditions & bizarre Super 8s rules, we were very impressed by displays of sharp fielding, sublime batting & accurate bowling.  The girls developed excellent cricket skills across the day, whilst demonstrating strong sportsmanship & support for their peers.

Both teams finished 3rd overall.
