Level 1

Dear Families,

It has been a busy few weeks in Level 1. We have been working hard to demonstrate school pride and positive interactions both in our classroom and outside. We've been approaching tasks with curiosity and ambition across all learning areas, and we're looking forward to all the fun things planned in the last few weeks of term!

Literacy

We have been carefully working towards finishing our information reports which we will share at the Level 1 Minibeast Expo. We have been researching different minibeasts using a range of digital and written texts. Then we've been using this information to put into our own words, finding our author's voice and making sure we edit and bump up our writing.

This week, we have begun to explore poetry in our Reading and Writing, looking at rhyming, rhythm, syllables and patterns. We are beginning to create our own poems about our minibeasts too!

Inquiry

Our Inquiry unit has been closely linked to our Literacy unit as we explored the best ways to present our research and information reports for our upcoming expo. We've been designing and organising our ideas into posters, making sure our writing, diagrams and subheadings are displayed clearly, and our posters are looking amazing!

Maths

We have been learning about making and sharing equal groups in Maths. We've been exploring how to make arrays, playing grouping games, like Land Grab, and exploring different strategies to tackle open-ended questions to find all the ways we can share collections.

Father's Day 

On Monday, we had so much fun having Dads and Grandads come and visit our classrooms and play games like 'Guess the Dad' and 'World's Tallest Tower'. We've been excitedly getting ready for Father's Day, visiting the Father's Day Stall and making special gifts for our grownups.
