Level 3

This week in Level 3...

Writing

The Year 3 students have been busy finishing, editing, and publishing their own narrative stories. Over the past few weeks, they have planned and drafted imaginative pieces, focusing on using interesting vocabulary, descriptive detail, and clear story structure. Students are now in the process of editing their work, checking for spelling, punctuation, and typing up their final copies. They are very proud of their efforts and are looking forward to sharing their completed narratives with others.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, the Year 3 students have been working on building their understanding of multiplication and division. They have been exploring how these operations are connected, using strategies such as arrays, equal groups, skip counting, and number facts to solve problems. Students are also learning to apply their knowledge to worded problems, explaining their reasoning and choosing efficient strategies. It has been exciting to see their confidence grow as they practice and share different ways to solve multiplication and division challenges.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have been learning about animal life cycles. The students have been busy designing and building habitats for their chosen animals, showing how each stage of the life cycle is supported. Alongside this, students are creating storyboards to plan a stop-motion animation that will bring their animals’ journeys to life. The stop-motion projects will show the four stages of the life cycle and highlight the important changes animals go through as they grow. The students are very excited to see their planning and creativity come together in their final animations!

Hooptime

Some of our Year 3 students recently took part in Hooptime Basketball. They represented our school with great teamwork, energy, and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see the students encouraging each other, trying their best, and enjoying the experience of playing against other schools. We are very proud of their efforts on and off the court!

Camp

The Year 3 students are very excited as we count down the days until camp! There has been lots of talk about the activities we will get to experience, the new challenges we will try, and the fun of spending time together outside the classroom. We are all looking forward to the adventure ahead!
