3/4D
Mrs. Debbie Terry
We have had an amazing start to the school year, and we are all settling into new routines and expectations in 3/4D. We are looking forward to a great year ahead with lots of fun and learning!

Literacy: We are diving straight into our class novel, Yirra and her deadly dog, Demon, which will serve as the anchor for our reading comprehension and vocabulary development. Students will learn to define and use new words found within the text to expand their word knowledge. In Writing, our focus is on crafting factual recounts, where students will practice enhancing their descriptions by incorporating precise adjectives and adverbs. We will also be investigating a variety of spelling rules to help students understand why words are spelled the way they are and apply this to their daily work.
Maths: This year we will be working in different classrooms for our Maths work. All Year 3 students will work with Miss Debbie and all Year 4 students will work with Mr Brendan.
Year 3 Topics: Counting and place value, addition and subtraction, Time and multiplication and division.
Year 4 Topics: Addition and subtraction, Fractions, Time and multiplication and division.
Inquiry - Our Dynamic Community: Students will explore what makes a community dynamic and how communities can change over time. Students will explore creative ways to help people become more healthy and active members of their communities. They will also examine some community health messages and think about how they impact the choices of different people.
Wellbeing: To start the year, we are focusing on building positive relationships and emotional regulation using The Zones of Regulation and Respectful Relationships.
Education in Faith: In our Religious Education lessons this term, we are exploring the special connections between our school and the wider church community (linking to Inquiry). As we approach the season of Lent, students will reflect on the importance of preparation, prayer, and how we can grow closer to God. We will also be focusing deeply on the theme of Forgiveness, with specific learning around the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
As we settle into the new school year, please keep the following in mind to help our days run smoothly:
Looking forward to meeting up with you all soon!
Kind regards,
Mrs Debbie Terry and Miss Jane
