It has been another exciting and hands-on time in STEM! 

Prep-2 students have wrapped up our fairytale engineering challenges, exploring pulleys, ziplines and parachutes as alternative ways for Jack to safely escape the beanstalk. They also designed and built strong houses for the Three Little Pigs, testing whether their structures could withstand the Wolf’s famous “huff and puff”. Students have now begun exploring Earth Sciences, learning about weather and how we can help look after Earth’s resources.

Years 3-6 have also begun their Earth Sciences learning. Years 3-4 explored the impact of human actions on climate and designed their own climate-smart cities, considering ways communities can reduce their impact on the environment. Students in Years 3-6 are also investigating natural hazards and ways to reduce risk and damage. They conducted volcano experiments and designed and built structures using principles to make them more likely to withstand and survive an earthquake.

It has been wonderful to see students continuing to question, design, build, test and improve as they develop their STEM skills!
