It has been another busy and enjoyable few weeks in Year 4/5, with plenty of learning, discussion, and a few adventures along the way!

We are getting very close to finishing our novel study of Music for Tigers, and the students have really embraced the story. It has been fantastic to see how invested they have become in the characters and events, with some great discussions taking place as we explore the themes and ideas throughout the novel. Our writing focus has linked nicely with our reading, as we have been learning about journal writing and developing our ability to write in the first person, share thoughts and feelings, and describe events from a character's perspective.

In Maths, we have been working on fractions and decimals, and the students are making some great progress. We have been building our understanding of how fractions and decimals are connected and applying this knowledge to a range of problems and activities. It has been pleasing to see the confidence growing as the students tackle some increasingly challenging concepts.

We have also been learning about location and direction, which gave us a great excuse to get outside! The students enjoyed a few jaunts around the school using compasses, practising their skills and following directions. There were plenty of enthusiastic navigators (and a few moments where we weren't quite sure where north was!), but everyone had a great time.

We are very excited about the 5/6 camp to Lady Northcote next week. It promises to be a fantastic experience and something the students are really looking forward to. Just a friendly reminder that students need to be at school by 8:30am sharp on the morning of departure — otherwise, there is a very real possibility that the bus will leave without you! 😄

Finally, a huge thank you to all our students and families for the wonderful participation and buy-in for our Book Week dress-up day. The costumes looked amazing, and it was fantastic to see the creativity and effort that went into bringing so many characters to life. The students certainly looked the part and helped make it an enjoyable day. It was so nice to see such a buy in from the Senior classes in the school.
