A Historic Moment for Victoria!

Victoria has made history with the formal passage of the Treaty legislation and the Treaty Agreement between the Victorian Government and First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria – an agreement built on truth, respect and shared purpose — the first of its kind in the nation.

Generations of First Nations Elders and communities have worked tirelessly for this moment, and now it’s time for all of us to come together and celebrate this incredible achievement.

The Treaty officially begins on Friday, 12 December 2025 at 10am, with a special exchange at Federation Square during the Victoria’s Treaty: It’s Here event — a celebration of 60,000 years of culture, song, dance and community, open to everyone in Victoria.
