Unit Focus: Babajen Blast Arcade
This term we have immersed ourselves in a world of games. After an initial visit to the ACMI and the Game Worlds exhibition, we unpacked what games interested us and what games we enjoyed playing. We analysed why these games appealed to us so much and looked at ways we could include these appealing aspects when designing our own games. Groups were formed based on shares ideas and we began the process of designing, building, testing and refining our games until we had created a product that we were proud of.
We followed the design process and incorporated both digital and mechanical components to our games. It has been a lot of hard work, tested our creativity and built our capacity to work effectively in teams. We have gained an understanding of the design process and really been able to integrate a lot of the skills and know how we have learnt from the STEM program.
We hope you will enjoy playing our creations and discussing the project further with us at the Babajen Blast Arcade.
The Babajen Blast Arcade will be held in the final week of school (Week 11) on Wednesday 17th, December (See the attached poster)

Chess Tournament
Chess Club are running their inaugural chess tournament!
Club President Alan Nguyen has organised a chess tournament for the final week of school (Week 11) in part to celebrate what has been a fun and successful semester for Chess Club.
Alan started a chess club this year, which currently meets every Thursday. From the initial few student attendees, the club is now frequented by around 20 students each week.
Alan teaches the kids and helps them find pairings and facilitate games. Alan has invested significant time and effort into growing the club and continues to bring fun and excitement to their weekly meets.
Gardening
It has been a busy term in Gardening, and we have enjoyed watching the space transform as we move from spring to summer. Recently in gardening we have; harvested broad beans, pruned plants, fed the chickens, saved snails, moved mulch, made plant labels, drank tea and eaten produce from the garden, made plant labels and planted out the planter box behind Kim and Raph’s room with native plants.
It has been a busy semester, and the garden is looking amazing.
Today we made dumplings. The filling was Pumpkin, chives, miso and ginger chives made using produce planted and grown in our TPS garden. To make the dumplings we spooned a little of the dumpling mix into the dumpling shells. Then we tried to seal them with a variety of techniques. This was more difficult than it looked, requiring skill and patients to get them just right.
