The Arts

We have started nice and busy in Term 2. Students have continued to explore the different areas of Music, with the P-2 students also exploring the Visual Arts and the 3-6 students exploring Drama.

Also, all students had a great time painting a personalised flower pot for Mother's Day. They are going home this week with a packet of daisy seeds, to create a colourul expression of love at home.

Note - the pots were painted with a water based paint that can wash off easily in rain, so if you are planning to display these pots outside, please spray the pot with a sealing spray to avoid the paint running.

Prep

In Music, the Prep students are contiuing to explore how to keep a steady beat on an instrument and in their bodies, as well as creating different Pitch (high and low sounds) with their voice. In Visual Arts, the students are creating different art works based on animals, including colourful snails using oil pastles and food dye, as well as turtles using paper plates and a collage of coloured paper.

1/2

In Music, the 1/2 students are exploring sounds all around us and how we can create music using found objects around the house, as well as representing music in different ways such as with sound symbols and sound scapes. In Visual Arts, the students are creating self-portraits in unique and fun ways, such as drawing what they would look like sleeping under a patchwork quilt or dressed as a clown.

3/4

In Music, the 3/4 students have begun playing ukulele as a group, learning to play two different chords as well as different strumming patterns. In Drama, students have started looking at how to use scripts when perfoming, in preperation for putting on a short play for the junior students later in the term.

5/6

In Music, the 5/6 students are once again exploring how to play the ukulele, learning a range of chords and strumming patterns to play with a variety of songs. In Drama, that have continued to rehearse the 5/6 production, which will be performed at the end of the term. This has included having small groups of students choreographing dances for the show that they have taught to their peers.
