School Wide - Moriac Star Initiative

To recognise and reinforce positive behaviours across our school, we run a fortnightly Moriac Star Raffle, which you may have seen highlighted at our assemblies.

Students receive a star each time a staff member acknowledges positive behaviour, both in the classroom and during specialist sessions. These stars are then used as raffle entries at assembly, giving students the chance to win small prizes, as well as entry into our major term draw for a Reading Cinema gift card.

Green Compass Posts

We celebrate students’ effort, work, and positive behaviour by sharing a “green” Compass post when they demonstrate one of our school values. These posts are a great way to spark a positive conversation at home about what your child has been doing well at school. Please keep an eye out for these over the coming weeks.

ThinkUKnow Incursion  Victorian Police

Moriac PS will be hosting an incursion from ThinkUKnow, a leading organisation dedicated to educating young people about online safety. This valuable program aims to help students navigate the digital world responsibly and safely.

The ThinkUKnow program, including presentations and resources, have been developed by the Australian Federal Police to support children to make positive choices. Content delivered is addressing and responding to current trends seen by law enforcement. Our presentation will be delivered by a representative from the Torquay Police Station.

The sessions will cover important topics such as cyberbullying, online privacy, safe social media use, and strategies for recognising online risks. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge on how to protect themselves and use technology in a positive way. Topics covered in each session are dependent on developmental stages and aim to help students at all levels build critical thinking skills.

Moriac students will engage in a 50-minute workshop with their cohort on either of the following days in week 6 of this Term.

  • Wednesday 27th May
  • Thursday 28th May

If you would like to view more information on ThinkUKnow, please visit the website here

If you have any further questions, or would prefer your child did not attend these sessions please contact danielle.mather@education.vic.gov.au.
