This term in Respectful Relationships, students will be focusing on developing their problem-solving skills and learning effective strategies for managing stress. From Prep through to Year 6, students will explore ways to recognise when their bodies are feeling overwhelmed and build an understanding of how to respond in calm and positive ways.

Through activities and discussions, students will learn practical techniques to help regulate their emotions, strengthen resilience, and make thoughtful decisions when faced with challenges. These skills are an important part of supporting both wellbeing and learning across all areas of school life.

In Week Two, students will participate in a wellbeing survey that invites them to reflect on their experiences at school, including how they feel in the classroom and what supports their learning best. This is a valuable opportunity for student voice, and the insights gathered will help us better understand their needs. We will use this information to guide our planning and continue to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.

We believe that:

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.

Everyone has the right to learn without disruption.

Teachers should be supported to teach in calm and positive classrooms.

Positive choices and behaviours should be noticed and celebrated.

Families and teachers are strongest when they support one another.

Our classrooms should be fair, gentle, and caring places where everyone feels they belong.

Positive Behaviour Reinforcement

We use a 2 Part Praise Approach: Step 1: Name the behaviour Step 2: Link it to a school value Example: “Jimmy, when you offered a green texta to Ellen, you showed great Care for Others. Well done!”

School expectations.

Accepting responsibility for personal behaviour, communication between school and home and the building of common rules for all within the school are focus areas through our SWPBS:

● Care for Self

● Care for Others

● Care for Learning

● Care for the Environment
