Australian Youth Band
The bands recent tour to Singapore included a combined performance with the Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony, as they celebrated their twentieth anniversary, and the band also delighted visitors at Universal Studios with a performance of popular movie themes and well-known tunes. Following these two performances, the highlight of the Singapore Tour, was the band’s performance at the UNESCO World Heritage listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, attended by over 3,000 people, including Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore. We are currently planning our next international tour to New Zealand in September 2025, and the Open Day will provide young musicians an opportunity to see and hear the band, plus also the prospect of joining the 2025 tour.
Our Open Day rehearsals provide an opportunity for young musicians to participate and experience playing with like-minded individuals. The day is structured as a musically inclusive activity and enables prospective members the opportunity to engage with our current members and provides the chance to explore the types of performances, events and repertoire that being a member of AYB brings. Please note that we adhere to Child Safe Standard requirements and Working with Children Checks.
AYB’s dynamic goals, which include the following, provide a return of investment, not only to our members, but translates and gives back to schools in their day-to-day school musical programs and outcomes.
At AYB we:
- Educate, foster and enhance the development of youth in musicianship and performance in a supportive and social environment
- Provide performance opportunities that allow members to become experienced and confident performing artists who enjoy playing music and entertaining audiences
