Here we are, over halfway through Term 3 already…I feel like I always start my newsletter article off like this. Clearly, time is flying and sometimes you need to pause and take a moment to reflect. So, here’s my pause and reflection……

We’ve wrapped up our footy unit, with all grades giving the good old Aussie Rules a go. We played lots of fun games where students got to refine their footy skills or simply improve on their hand-eye coordination. I’ve found (and made up) a whole heap of new games to give everyone the chance to really work on their fine motor skills and coordination. It’s been really fun and quite refreshing to have so many new games to play. 

This week, we started our T-ball and Baseball units. It’s already been so much fun especially watching everyone learn to play with a proper baseball glove on. Some kids are still a bit unsure as to why they put the glove on their ‘weaker’ hand. We’ll get there! 

Last Friday we had 38 LPS students proudly represent the school at District Athletics in Bendigo. This is always one of the best days of the year and one I’m so proud to be a part of. LPS students consistently represent the school in a positive and supportive way, showing why we have such a great reputation amongst the area. A huge congratulations to all who competed, especially those who were there for the first time. Amazing!! Moving to the Division event in mid-September (aside from Year 5/6 camp which has thrown a spanner in the works) is Eliza for Shot Put, Hattie for Triple Jump, Lucy for Discus, Ivy for Triple Jump and Kaylee for Triple Jump and Shot Put. Notice the trend with the Triple Jump winners??? Must have been that training session we did at lunchtime that helped…

Finally, congratulations to Kaylee who broke both the 11 girls Triple Jump and Shot Put records:

Triple Jump 8.65m, previous record 8.21m (1997)

Shot Put 9.74m, previous record 8.45 (2013)

Make sure you look out for her at the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane. I’m being very serious by the way!
