Year 5/6 

It has been another exciting few weeks in Grade 5/6, with students continuing to engage enthusiastically in their learning.

We recently completed our class novel, A Ghost in My Suitcase, which was loved by all. The novel provided a wonderful opportunity to explore our own family histories and led us into a very special project focused on genealogy and family trees. Students interviewed family members and gathered information, stories, recipes and other special pieces of their family history. The finished family trees were amazing and it was wonderful to see the pride students took in learning about and sharing their family histories.

We have since begun our new novel, Music for Tigers. Students have already been introduced to the thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) and the Tarkine Rainforest, with plenty of interesting discussions and questions emerging as we explore the story and its setting.

We also participated in our Term 3 Inform and Empower virtual incursion, where students continued to develop their understanding of cyber safety. The session provided students with practical strategies for making safe and responsible choices when using technology and interacting online.

It has been a fantastic few weeks of learning, with students making meaningful connections between their own lives, their families and the wider world around them.
