Kindness Campaign Update

Our Kindness Campaign has had a fantastic start, and it has been wonderful to see so many students demonstrating kindness in their words and actions every day. We have loved catching students showing kindness to their peers, teachers and our wider school community.

At our recent assembly, we celebrated students who have consistently demonstrated our school value of kindness. Congratulations to the following students, whose names were drawn from our Kindness raffle and each received a canteen voucher:

  • Prep: Haniya
  • Year 1: Aliyen
  • Year 2: Aafreen
  • Year 3: Janat
  • Year 4: Tomi
  • Year 5: Tessa
  • Year 6: Rishika

Congratulations to all of our winners! We are incredibly proud of the kindness being shown across the school and encourage families to continue talking about the importance of kindness at home. We look forward to recognising many more students as our Kindness Campaign continues throughout the term.

Swimming Update

Our Year 2 and 3 students have just one week of swimming lessons remaining, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence and skills grow in the water. They have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, not just the swimming lessons themselves, but even the bus ride to and from the pool has been a highlight!

We are also excited for our Prep and Year 1 students, who will begin their swimming program on Wednesday 26th August. To help your child feel confident and make the most of their lesson time, we encourage families to practise getting dressed and undressed independently at home before swimming begins. This simple preparation helps students transition quickly and makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone.

We look forward to seeing our younger students enjoy this exciting opportunity while continuing to develop these important life skills.

Excursion Excitement!

It is an exciting time across the school, with many of our students looking forward to upcoming excursions. Our Year 3 students visited Healesville Sanctuary today, our Prep students are eagerly anticipating their trip to Moonlit Sanctuary on Monday, and our Year 2 students will finish the month with an exciting excursion to LEGOLAND on Monday 31st August.

These excursions have been a wonderful topic of conversation throughout the school, with students enthusiastically counting down the days and sharing what they are most looking forward to. We know these experiences will provide valuable opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom while creating lasting memories with their classmates. We can't wait to hear all about their adventures!

Book Week at Hillsmeade!

We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week on Monday 24th August with our Book Week Dress-Up Parade commencing at 9:00am, followed by an Open Morning until 10:30am. Families are warmly invited to join us as students celebrate their favourite book characters and our shared love of reading, before spending time in classrooms to see the wonderful learning taking place.

In the lead-up to Book Week, our Book Fair will be held in the library from Friday 14th to Tuesday 18th August. Families are encouraged to visit before or after school to browse the fantastic range of books available. Every purchase helps support our school library, and it's a wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of reading while finding a great new book to enjoy at home. We look forward to seeing many of our families there!

Curriculum Day is coming!

Don't forget Wednesday 19th August is Curriculum Day. Students will not be required at school.
