Run Machine Year 7s March On, Fighting Year 8s Give It Their All!

On Friday 17th September, our Year 7 and 8 Boys cricket teams hit the road to Lucknow to face off against Nagle in the East Gippsland Cricket clash. It was a day packed with big hits, spectacular wickets, and heaps of team spirit!

Year 7: Unstoppable Run Chase!

Our Year 7 crew hit the ground running, putting on an absolute masterclass in bowling and fielding. They turned up the heat early, restricting Nagle to 9/99 off their 20 overs.

  • Angus was on fire, tearing through the lineup to take a blazing 3/9 off 3 overs!
  • Callum wasn't far behind with a brilliant 2/7, while Tyler and Casey each chipped in to claim crucial wickets.

When it was our turn to bat, the boys showed absolutely zero signs of slowing down. They blasted their way to a dominant 1/104, cruising past Nagle’s total in just the 16th over!

  • Angus backed up his bowling with a lightning-fast 34 runs.
  • Casey (29)* and Howard (15)* put on a clinical, unbeaten display to bring home the win.

Next stop: the Gippsland Region Finals on 27th October! Watch this space!

Year 8: Full of Heart and Fight

Following the Year 7s' success, our Year 8 squad charged onto the field bursting with enthusiasm. Nagle came out swinging with an incredibly powerful batting lineup that made wickets hard to come by.

  • Our bowling unit dug deep, with Darcy, Keegan, and Ashton each breaking through to take hard-earned wickets. Nagle set a formidable target of 3/162.

Chasing a big total, the boys padded up with high hopes and a lot of heart. In an incredibly gritty performance, an injured Darcy played a heroic, unbeaten innings of 34 runs! Unfortunately, Nagle's bowling attack proved a bridge too far, wrapping up our innings at 6/53.

Despite the result, the boys never let their heads drop and represented the school with immense pride. Fantastic effort, gents!
