Year One

National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

On Wednesday 27th May, our Year One students excitedly joined millions of children across Australia in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime 2026! At exactly 12:00pm classes came together to read this year’s featured story, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton.

National Simultaneous Storytime is a nationwide initiative that promotes literacy, the joy of reading, and the importance of sharing stories together. Schools, libraries, childcare centres, and families across the country participate in this special annual event.

This year’s story followed FC Outback in a thrilling football match against Bush United. Through the character of Luna Roo, students explored themes of courage, resilience, teamwork, and believing in yourself. The engaging story and vibrant illustrations captured everyone’s attention and sparked thoughtful discussions in classrooms throughout the day. Our students thoroughly enjoyed being part of this shared reading experience and reflected by making and writing text to self connections about the story.

We loved Luna Roo and Simultaneous Storytime!!!
