School Council

School Council came together for a special face-to-face meeting on Monday 18th May so that we could all take part in governance training conducted through the Department of Education. It’s always great to be together in person!

The training gave us an opportunity to discuss our role as School Council, what we are responsible for (and what we’re not), and how we can operate in the best way possible in support of our kids’ education. Below is a snapshot of feedback shared by our members:

The governance training strengthened my understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in effective school governance, particularly the importance of strategic decision making, accountability and collaboration. - Alice Stephens, Assistant Principal

The governance training was a great way to clarify the roles and responsibilities that we have as a School Council. - Fiona O'Reilly, Year Two Classroom Teacher

It was great to take part in the governance training - it was a useful way to make sure we were on track with everything we do. - Darcy Wynd, Office Manager

The governance training provided a valuable opportunity to ensure our School Council remains aligned and informed, as we work together toward the best outcomes for ENPS. - Ben Suter, School Council President

The School Council governance training was a great opportunity to ensure there is a shared understanding of our role as a School Council. I really value our School Council and enjoy working so closely with our parent and school representatives to ensure the best outcomes for our school. - Kate Barletta, Principal

Our usual School Council meeting followed the training. Key agenda items included an update on the $24 million capital works process, as well as identifying additional funding opportunities for other upgrades to our learning environments that are out of scope for capital works (as mentioned on Kate Barletta's Principal's page). We have some fun ways to raise additional funds coming up, including the fantastic Games & Trivia Night on Friday 14 August!

Our next newsletter will have some more information on who each of your School Councillors are so that you can easily find us around the school. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions for feedback, we are always happy to chat.

Warm regards,
