Year Three

Reconciliation Learning
This week, the Year Three students have been learning about reconciliation, the National Apology, and National Sorry Day. Together, we explored how understanding the truth of Australia’s history can help us build a more respectful, kind, and united future for everyone.
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, “All In”, encourages all Australians to work together towards reconciliation through truth-telling, listening, learning, respect, and positive action.
Our learning intention was: “We are learning to understand how our actions can help build reconciliation and a brighter future.”
Students reflected on ways they can show kindness, inclusion, fairness, and respect in their everyday lives. As part of the activity, students decorated footprint templates and recorded ideas about how we can move forward together and take action for a brighter future through reconciliation.
Some thoughtful student ideas included:
listening respectfully to others
including everyone in games and activities
learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
showing kindness and empathy to EVERYONE
standing up for fairness and respect
respecting everyone’s perspective and ideas
accepting all cultural, family and self-identities
Students decorated footprint templates and shared ways we can move forward together through reconciliation, respect, kindness, and inclusion. We are proud of the thoughtful ideas and reflections shared by our Year Three students as they continue to learn about building stronger connections and a more inclusive future for all Australians.
