A Day in May

Thursday 21st of May marked our annual Day in May, a celebration and commemoration of the life of much loved former ENPS student Marcus Rosin. On May 15th 2014 at age nine, this beautiful young boy sadly lost his courageous five year battle with cancer.
Every year for a Day in May, our Junior School Council and school community take action by raising funds to support research into new treatments for children with cancer. This occasion holds such a special place all of our hearts, and last week's event was once again full of colourful hair, lolly bags, the banging of drums, colouring, and splashes of bright yellow on students and staff across ENPS. Marcus would have turned 21 this year, and it was also our honour on the day to present Marcus’ mum, Marisa, with a 21st key signed by us all at ENPS to celebrate his amazing legacy.
Together, this year we raised an amazing grand total of $2,816.15. All money raised will be donated to the Marcus Rosin Fund who support the Children’s Cancer Foundation’s research at the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Monies raised through The Marcus Rosin Fund have been used in the development of an Australian clinical trial testing personalised cancer vaccines for children with deadly brain tumours. The Children’s Cancer Foundation and the Marcus Rosin Fund have partnered with the Robert Connor Dawes (RCD) Foundation to provide additional funding specifically for children with ependymoma on the clinical trial. If the trial is successful, it will be life changing.
A heartfelt thank you to our JSC members and staff for planning and assisting with our Day in May, and to our parents and carers who donated lollies, coloured hairspray and their time to help pack lolly bags. It's wonderful to have such a strong community getting behind A Day in May each year, and we appreciate your ongoing support for this very important cause. Thank you.
