Help us Host a Student
Shibuya Japanese Student Exchange 2024
We are very excited to be welcoming 10 girls from Japan to Shelford for 13 days in March. This is a very exciting opportunity to meet and get to know a young girl from Japan. Please think about joining our 2024 homestay team.
In March after the long weekend Shelford will be welcoming 10 girls from Shibuya Gakuen, a high school in the heart of Tokyo, Japan.
Shibuya Gakuen is a co-educational Year 7-12 school. Our visitors will have just finished their Year 9 studies and will start Year 10 when they go back to Japan.
They are 15 years old.
The whole Year 9 cohort will be coming to Melbourne on a school trip, but only 10 girls will be coming to Shelford. All of the girls coming to Shelford have lived overseas for some years so their English is quite good. They may struggle a bit with the Australian accent!
During the day they will be in classes with their host sisters, in classes of their own choice and they will also be visiting some of our Japanese classes for special activities.
Families will receive $600 to help with the cost of having an extra member of the family for 13 days.
Dates:
Arriving Wednesday March 13. They will come to Shelford from the airport and we are expecting them about 10am
They will leave from Shelford at about 1 pm on Monday March 25.
Homestay responsibilities:
3 meals a day
Students must have their own bed but can share a bedroom.
All people over 18 who will be staying in the house will need to have a Working With Children Check – this can be obtained from any Post Office.
Please email me at jdevine@shelford.vic.edu.au if you are able to help.
