FSFA | Speech Contest 2025

The Frankston Susono Friendship Association Japanese Speech Contest 2025 was held at Monash University Peninsula Campus at 7.00pm on Friday 5 September. There were over 50 students participating in this contest this year from three primary schools and four secondary schools in Frankston region. In 1993 FSFA started holding this speech contest and has continued almost every year.
There were eight contestants from Frankston High School and I would like to announce our prize winners:
*Alyssa Lancaster (Year 12) came 2nd Place in Senior Division (Title: Green Hospital)
*Mele'ana Lino (Year 10) came 1st Place in Intermediate Division
*Ilaisaane Lino (Year 7) came 2nd Place in Junior Division
*Enrica Lam (Year 8) came 3rd Place in Junior Division
*Mae Fanning (Year 8) came 1st Place in Environment Division
We had three more contestants. Diti Gjorgjievski (Year 10) and Charleigh Lancaster (Year 8) did very well memorizing a long speech about “Star Festival”. And Tabitha Abbas (Year 12) who prepared for her 4 minute-long speech about “Deforestation and Pom Poko” recited her speech confidently. Even though they did not win a prize, they should also be congratulated on their effort!
Congratulations to all of our students. They made a great effort to remember their long speeches in Japanese. I am very proud of everyone who participated in the contest!
I would like to thank Jacqui Laing and our language assistant Haruko Emoto for giving up their lunch time to prepare for students’ speech in the last few weeks and organizing a wonderful gift for each student. I would like to thank Wendy Goodman and Rebecca Stroud for their support and encouraging students to participate in the contest.
