JUNIOR | School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students

It certainly been an eventful term for our Junior School students! The school is a hub of activity every day with the learning and teaching that occurs across each of our subject areas, enriched by students’ experiences outside the classroom. Some Term 3 highlights include:

  • Focus groups ran to capture students’ thoughts and reflections about what our values – respect, responsibility, resilience and empathy – look like in action

  • After learning about the Middle School program, our Year 8 students submitted their elective preferences for 2026 as they began thinking about the transition to Year 9.

  • Many of our Junior School students were involved on-stage or behind-the-scenes in this year’s brilliant production of Chicago. Well done to all those involved!

  • Students participated in an array of activities to celebrate Maths, Science and Book Weeks, including engaging with challenges as part of the annual World of Maths incursion, taking part in the Australian Maths Competition, tackling science quizzes, hearing from professional author Jack Heath and challenging themselves with a scavenger hunt put together by our wonderful Junior Resource Centre team.

  • Year 8 students took part in the always-popular History incursion, immersing themselves in the world of Medieval Europe to learn about daily life and warfare.

  • Our Training Band had their debut performance at the Winter Concert with many of our Year 8 students also contributing to the brilliant Small Groups Concert on Thursday 18 September.

  • Our Parent Student Teacher Conferences were held following the publication of Term 3 Progress Reports, providing an opportunity for reflection and goal setting.

  • Our Year 7 and 8 Year Level Captains continued to collaborate with other student leaders to drive improvement initiatives and advocate for their peers whilst developing their own capacity for leadership.

We also celebrated some student achievements at our end-of-term assemblies, including:

  • Optima Awards for Year 8 students who consistently model our values and try their best. Congratulations to 8A: Bella Schmidt, 8B: Ashlee De Wet, 8C: Monika Savani, 8D: Ruby Forsyth, 8E: Chloe Lee, 8F: Eva Braverman, 8G: Riley Rogers, 8H: Harley Morgan, 8J: Courtney Hyland, 8K: Neha Deleep, 8L: Thomas Peterson, 8M: Dani Johansjah and 8N: Joey Saunders.

  • Pillar Awards for Year 7 student who work hard to uphold our pillars: Excellence – Coco Yang, Aspiration – Charlotte Brooks, and Community – Toby Ulyatt.

The year so far has flown by and we hope students come back refreshed and recharged after the Spring holiday break for an exciting and equally-busy Term 4!
