PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Friends

VCE Leadership Awards

Two of our School Captains, Blake Alford-Ryan and Tyra Gourdouros , were shortlisted for the ‘2025 VCE Leader of the Year’. Only eight leaders from across the state are chosen by VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) each year. This is an amazing achievement, with the award ceremony held on Friday 12 September. Thank you to Mr Jon Christie, Head of Student Voice, Agency and Leadership, Ms Tiffany Greenhill, Campus Principal Year 11 and 12, and Ms Brittany Harvey, Head of Year 12, for their work in supporting our Year 12 leaders.

Wear it Purple Day

This is an annual LGBTIQA+ awareness day especially for young people, based in Australia. Supporters wear purple to celebrate diversity and young people from the LGBTIQA+ community. It was great to see many students and staff supporting this day by wearing something purple to show our Frankston High School support of this day.  We raised the Pride flag on Friday morning on the 7-10 Campus. Well done and thank you to Mr Jarryd Brand, Ms Tiffany Greenhill, and the Wellbeing Team along with all those staff and students who wore purple and celebrated this day.

R U OKAY? Day

On Thursday 11 September we recognised R U OK? Day. This year’s theme was: “Ask R U OK? Any day of the year” – because every day is the right day to check in. We all have ups and downs, and you don’t need to be a professional to support someone; you just need to care enough to ask and listen. You matter. Your mental health matters. And it’s okay not to be okay.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences (PSTC)

Thank you to all teachers for their efforts in providing feedback to parents/carers and students during our remote PSTC last Tuesday 9 September. Thank you to all of parents/carers and students who participated. Thank you to Mr John Simon and Mr Daniel Haddon for their efforts organising these.

Cairns Trip

Thank you to Ms Victoria Stewart, Mrs Cheryl Hodgson, Mrs Bianca Johnson, Mr Adam Martin, Mr Liam McDonald, Ms Sienna Robson, and Mr Patrick Bloink for their time and dedication in taking fifty Year 9 students to Cairns from Monday 18 August to Saturday 23 August. The students had an incredible time. Thank you to Ms Leah Hannas for her efforts organising this trip and for introducing this trip to Frankston High School in 2024.

In Week 5 of Term 3, 49 students and seven teachers from Frankston High School went on a 6-day Cairns camp full of fun, adventure, and new experiences. We visited Cairns Aquarium, explored the Daintree Rainforest, and even had ice cream in Port Douglas while spotting crocodiles! Fitzroy Island was a highlight with snorkeling, a turtle rehab program, and an Indigenous cultural session. The Great Barrier Reef offered crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, followed by a lively evening at the Cairns Night Market. On our final day, we rode the Kuranda Scenic Railway, explored Rainforestation Nature Park, learned about local plants, Indigenous traditions, and saw kangaroos, koalas, and cassowaries. This trip allowed students to connect with each other, with nature, and with new experiences. A huge thank you to all the students and teachers who made it unforgettable! – Ms Victoria Stewart
