Year One Fun has Begun

Over the past few weeks, the Year 1 students have been exploring a variety of different types of poetry. As part of our learning, we focused on acrostic poems and learnt how to use the letters in a word to create meaningful words and sentences that connect to our chosen topic.
The students thoroughly enjoyed creating their own acrostic poems and had the opportunity to use their creativity and imagination to write about a range of topics, including themselves, animals and other things they enjoy. They enjoyed thinking carefully about the words they could choose and developing their ideas to create poems that were unique and personal to them.
A particular highlight was creating a very special acrostic poem for Father’s Day. The students enjoyed thinking about the special qualities, memories and things they appreciate about their Dads and special people in their lives. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness they put into their writing, and they should all be very proud of their creative efforts.
