Prep Report

Term 3, 2026

Welcome to Term 3. Despite the chilly air and cloudy days, we have lots of exciting learning planned for our wonderful Prep/1 classes! From celebrating our 100th day of school and dressing up for Book Week to researching animals and learning how to add, this term will be spent creating long lasting memories and building confidence in our youngest learners!

Reading

  • learning the remaining letters of the alphabet
  • learning how to read 2-4 letter words and short sentences
  • learning how to read at least 10 heart words
  • learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction books
  • reading a range of different non-fiction books about animals

Writing

  • learning how to write 2-4 letter words
  • learning how to write a complete sentence with an uppercase letter at the start, finger spaces between each word, and a full stop at the end
  • learning how to write a sentence with a noun (person, animal, place, or thing) and a verb (action word)
  • learning how to write at least 10 heart words
  • research animals and record facts about each animal

Maths

  • learning how to count to and from 20
  • learning how to add collections to 20 (for example: I have 3 red apples and 2 green apples. How many apples do I have altogether?)
  • learning about and describing location (in front, behind, between, inside, outside, etc.)

SEL

  • learning how to be a kind friend and how to make new friends
  • learning about the importance of sleep in a healthy lifestyle
  • learning how to use a growth mindset when facing new challenges

Inquiry

This term we will be beginning our 2-term unit on Toys. We will be exploring the wonderful world of toys. Students will explore toys from the past and around the world and the science behind how they function. The focus will be on designing and creating their own toys.

24th July: 100 Days of School Celebration

31st July: 100 Days of School performance at Assembly

14th August: Curriculum Day- NO SCHOOL

24th-28th August: Book Week

28th August: Book Week Parade

26th-31st August: Book Fair in the Library

1st September: Writer's Festival 

2nd September: Father's Day Stall

10th September: R U OK Day

18th September: Last Day and Sports Day (Dress up in your favourite sports outfit)

 

 

Reminders

  • Please label ALL coats, jackets, water bottles, and lunchboxes
  • Please reduce the amount of money sent to school and remind your child that there is to be NO SHARING of money with their friends
  • Bring water every day, no juice please
  • Please pack some fruit, veggies, and a meal each day. Please limit the amount of packaged foods (chips, lollies, biscuits, etc) to support your child's learning and concentration
  • READ your books and your heart words EVERYDAY
