iCan Challenge 2026

Raising money for the Good Friday Appeal

Training Walks Have Begun

On Thursday 23 October, we held our first after-school iCan Challenge training walk with great weather and a great turnout. Training walks will now take place every week in Terms 4 & 1, leading up to our 50km walk on Wed 1 April, 2026 to raise $100,000 for the Good Friday Appeal.

Training walks will give participants the opportunity to get to know each other whilst training for the track conditions (mostly concrete and bitumen) and time on their feet. Participants and encouraged to train with the socks, footwear and walking pack they will carry during the event. It is also an opportunity for supervising staff to assess the walking stamina of students so they can be grouped appropriately on event day.

The weekday training walks will cover distances of approximately 8-10km with a longer training walk planned on a weekend day, each term. Participants  have been added to the training walk Events on Compass and are expected to undertake regularly. If they are unable to join a scheduled group walk, they can do their own practice walks at another time but should track their walks through the Strava App. Participants are expected to join at least one of the longer weekend walks but are encouraged to attend both.

Walkers should bring:

  • Backpack
  • 1-2 litres of water (some walks may not allow for refilling)
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes
  • Snacks to refuel
