Top Results!

A team of 8 students headed out to Victoria's premier athletics track, Lakeside Stadium, on Monday 20 October to compete at the School Sport Victoria State Athletics Championships.

 

The main highlights of the day included Sami Waddell and Chloe Grund who both won their individual events, crowning them as state champions!

Sami won the 14 Year Girls High Jump, clearing 1.55m and defeating her next best competitor by 5cm in wet conditions. After her win she also competed in the Long Jump and finished 7th place jumping 4.05m. 

 

Chloe won the 13 Year Girls 1500m, running an incredible time of 4:50.54s, defeating 2nd place by 4 seconds. Chloe also placed 3rd in the Open Girls 3000m, running a time of 10:13.57s against multiple Year 11 and 12 students.

 

Other results included Holly Makaay also finished 3rd place in the 17 Girls 1500m, running 5:03.56s in a fantastic performance coming off a hamstring injury.

 

Special mention also to the following students who competed: 

Jayvel Singh 4th Place - 17 Boys 800m 1:59.04s

Levy Burke 6th Place - 17 Boys 100m 11.60s

 

Lastly, at 6:38pm our relay team of Sami Waddell, Laila Firth, Kiera Moroney and Ella Brown raced in the 2nd last event of the carnival, finishing in 5th place in a time of 56.29

We finished the day with 2 Gold (Sami and Chloe) and 2 Bronze (Holly and Chloe).

 

Wantirna finished 38th overall among all schools in the state, last year we finished 101st, so it's a massive improvement for our school, congratulations to all involved on a fantastic day! Can't wait to see what we can produce in 2026!
