EMR Athletics Carnival

On Monday 13 October, a team of 53 Wantirna College students headed off to compete at the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) Athletics Championships. A beautiful sunny day and little wind meant ideal conditions for our athletes. We successfully had 8 students (including a relay team) qualify for the State Athletics Championships, compared to last year, when we had 3 students qualify, so this is an incredible achievement for our school.
Overall on team points, we finished 5th place out of all schools in the Region. Only 0.5 points behind 4th and 5.5 points behind 3rd. This is a major improvement on 2024, so congratulations to all who contributed to scoring points for Wantirna. We will be hoping to make the podium for team scores next year!
Special shoutout to Ms Lucy McLennan and Bianca Mizzi for their help on the day, and to all of the students who volunteered their time to help with the raking/sweeping of the Long Jump pits.
