Year 12 Celebration Day

On Tuesday 21 October, Wantirna College students and staff, along with parents of Year 12 students came together to celebrate the traditional Year 12 Farewell assembly as part of our annual Year 12 Celebration Day — a heartfelt farewell to the graduating Class of 2025 and a day that recognises their journey through their College years.
The day began with a catered morning tea for Year 12 students and the teachers who had supported them over the years, where they shared memories and plenty of stories from their time together. This was followed by a drone video shot by Benn Pollock, creating a lasting memento of their final day as Wantirna College students.
After this, students partied in the Pathways Hub, which was transformed into a lively celebration space featuring music, games, and a photobooth. The atmosphere was electric, thanks to students, Jack Hawkes and Mitch Boneham, who DJ-ed throughout the morning, keeping spirits high and energy levels even higher.
Whilst parents of Year 12's gathered to enjoy a special morning tea. Students moved on to their final year level assembly - the very last time that the Class of 2025 gathered together as students in the Theatre. Emotions ran high as they watched a touching montage video, created by Year Level Leader, Della Zhang, which showed highlights from their six years at the College. The Year 12 Captains also presented a video, filled with heartfelt messages and unforgettable moments, and a special video message from the Class of 2025 previous Year Level Leaders was also played.
At this assembly, students took the opportunity to thank their subject teachers and the Senior School Team for their guidance, support, and encouragement throughout their studies.
Year 12 Celebration Day culminated with all students, staff and the parents of our graduating students attending our traditional Year 12 Farewell assembly in the new Mooroop Centre.
Year 12 students were applauded as they entered the assembly and Principal Carrie Wallis opened the proceedings with a speech about the momentous occasion of Year 12's finishing school and preparing for exams and life after school. Two of the school bands performed and the College Captains gave speeches acknowledging the six years of school, and the impact of teachers and staff over that time. They also thanked the staff and parents.
Mr Andrew Peters was a special guest speaker, who gave a memorable speech as a representative of the parents of Year 12s.
Finally, the Year 12 parents and carers formed a guard of honour for the traditional farewell as the Year 12's left the Mooroop amidst thunderous applause, some tears (and lots of confetti).
To the Class of 2025, you didn’t just survive this year. You thrived in every sense of the word. Watching you grow and evolve over the years has been an absolute privilege. We hope that you step confidently into the next chapter of your lives. We hope that you chase your own version of success, whatever that looks like for you. We wish you all the best as you head out into the world — finding your place, doing what you love, and becoming who you’re meant to be. We looking forward to hearing all about it at the Valedictory Dinner on Tuesday 25th of November, at Crown Palladium.
